The Project Management is a compulsory course and has been offered by the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Course structure and modules

Course Contents:

  • Introduction To Project Management:

Definition of Project & Project Management, Role of Project Management in Organization’s Competitive Strategy, Project Life Cycle, Project Management and the Project Manager, Project Organization.

  • Project Planning:

Standard Methodology for Managing Projects; Project Scope, Project Priorities, WBS/PBS & Integration with OBS. Estimating Project Times and Costs; Project Risk Management.

  • Project Scheduling: Project Scheduling process , Network Computations , Scheduling Resources; Constrained Resource Scheduling, Multi project Scheduling and Resource Allocation, Resources Allocation Problem, Resource loading, Resource Leveling, Goldratt’s Critical Chain.
  • Project Control:

Fundamental Purposes of Project Control, Project Control Process, Project Progress Measurement, Project performance Evaluation, Applications of Software Packages for Project Management.

  • Project Termination:

Project Audit, Construction and use of Audit Report, Project Audit Life cycle, when to terminate a Project, Project termination Process, The Final Report.

  • Practical/Laboratory Work:

Defining the project i.e start date, working days, shifts, working hrs/day, et.c, Developing project network, project scheduling by using Gantt Chart, Project performance measurement & evaluation by using Tracking Gantt Chart, Calculation of man-hrs, machine-hrs, material-hrs by using Resource Usage graph, Resource Leveling, Final project reports for decision making.

Note:    Labs will be based on Theory
