After completion of this course each student would be able to:

  • DISCUSS individual, group, and organizational Behavior within industrial organizations.
  • BE AWARE of major theoretical and research traditions associated with organizational behavior and organizational theory
  • ADOPT different theoretical concepts related to motivating personnel and effective leadership as a basis for developing a philosophy of management and leadership.

The Organizational Behavior is a compulsory course and has been offered by the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management.

Course Contents:

  • Introduction:

Evolution of OB, Defining OB, Behavioral aspects, Management as an Integrating Activity.

  • Individual Behavior:

Individual differences in organization, personality, attitudes, Nature and Importance of Perception, Perceptual selectivity, Process of Perception.

  • Group Behavior:

Foundations of Group behavior, work teams, the role of Communication, Communication Technology, Purpose and process of Communication, Interactive communication in organizations, Negotiations and Intergroup behavior, Power and Politics, Conflicts.

  • Autonomous Groups:

Autonomous working. Work group approach. Features of group systems.

  • Organization System and Design:

Foundation of Organization Structure, Dimension components of Organization Structure, Contingency approaches to Organizational Design, Meaning and causes of stress, organizational culture.

  • Organizational Dynamics:

Organizational change and development, resistance to change, approaches to managing organizational change.

  • Contemporary Challenges:

The nature of diversity, managing diversity, ethics and ethical behavior in organization.
